Possible for a Car-Lite Society?

As Singapore sets sight to move towards a car-lite society, LTA has also revised the vehicle growth rate and lowered from the current 0.25 per cent per annum to 0 per cent, effective February 2018.

The active hybrid e-bike is a stylish, sporty version that features a light-weight body frame constructed out of hydroformed aluminium developed in-house by BMW. There’s an electric motor tucked neatly at the front, inner part of the bicycle frame for a suave and sleek look. It enables the e-bike to run on a 504W battery or switch to the 250W motor to allow traversing on-the-track of up to 62 miles on a single charge.

Functions have been made easy for riders to adjust the pedal assistance at a single touch of the button using the display, offering riders the needed pedal support of up to 90 Nm of torque. Four options of the power modes are also presented to provide maximum push. What’s unique about the BMW active hybrid e-bike is the specially-designed saddle, which has a supportive structure for comfort and safety. Other useful accessories include the micro USB port for smartphones and the Bluetooth connectivity to connect to the music devices etc., as well as the front headlight and the rear-mounted LED headlight indicator for maximum safety.

Pedaling on a Gulas Pi1 Electric Motorcycle

Powered by 8 kW (12 hp) with a torque of up to 60 Nm (44 ft lb), riders can now take the Gulas Pi1 electric motorcycle to the freeway or the public roads. This Gulas e-bike is made to ooze superior power and acceleration meaning, allowing travels at a top speed of 90 kph or 56 mph, but up to 115 kph or 71 mph. It features an enormous battery capacity of up to 240 km or 150 mi.​ What’s the unique part of the functions of the Gula bike is that the faster one pedals, the more power the motor gets and speeds up the bike, so that riders can cycle longer distances with minimal effort.

Increasing Car Rate, Turn to eBike? Land Transport Authority of Singapore recently published the revised vehicle growth rate, effective February 2018

Following the recent announcement by the Land Transport Authority of Singapore (LTA) to continue improving the public transport system and as Singapore sets sight to move towards a car-lite society, the vehicle growth rate has been lowered from the current 0.25 per cent per annum to 0 per cent, effective February 2018. This change is applicable for COE Categories A, B and D. The existing category C (0.25 per cent per annum) remains unchanged till first quarter of 2021.

According to LTA, the adjustments to the vehicle growth rate are not expected to significantly affect the supply of COEs, as COE quota is determined largely the number of vehicle deregistrations.

The next review of the vehicle growth rate will take place in 2020.
