Having made its inaugural debut in Phuket, the Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous (KRSR) is capturing the attention of those in the industry. Apart from hosting some of the best players in Asia’s yachting industry, the event also cemented Phuket as a place of interest on the global yachting map.

Today the KRSR Phuket joins Monaco, St Tropez, Cannes and the Caribbean as some of the top yachting destinations for those who have a never-ending love affair with the sea. While the exclusive event saw 15 of the finest yachts come together, it was also an opportunity for organisers to host lively parties and even a successful owner’s dinner. “Overall we are thrilled by the response we have received from all KRSR participants” said Mr Richard Pope Kata Rocks’ & Infinite Luxury Chief Executive. He added that “Feedback has been extremely positive and it is very gratifying to help elevate Phuket to elite status as a true luxury destination and superyacht playground.”

Kicking off the event was a cocktail party at Kata Rocks that allowed guests to soak in the sunset while surrounded by superyachts. For entertainment, the organisers enlisted the help of Thai pop opera singer Fivera, who regaled guests with soaring vocals. Capturing the attention of many on the second day, were the 93 metre MY Lauren L, the Zeelander Z44 and the Pershing 92 that boasted a modern design.

Over at the Kata Rocks Penthouse Sky Villa on one of the exciting evenings, was the by-invite-only Feadship Owner’s Dinner that served scrumptious fare with Dom Pérignon, Penfolds ‘Grange’ 2010 and Louis XIII cognac. Joining the culinary spread enjoyed was an original work of art by Watcharin Rodnit of Negrata Asian Art Gallery. The piece attracted a bid of THB 150,000 at the silent auction that followed. The proceeds were donated to a good cause, the Phuket Youth Sailing Club, to help promote and develop sailing for the next generation of sailors. While the event may have just ended, the KRSR executive committee has announced that the second edition in 2017 will be held from December 8 to 10.
